i was there during solfest,and.....this is just a poor excuse for a traditional run country pub,no wonder we are losing our village pubs,it isnt rocket science,NICE MANNERS X GOOD FOOD X VALUE FOR MONEY= SUCCESS just look at appelby or kirkby stephen or dalston,i rest my case.

this small pub, that boasts to be in the lake district in most of its own advertising and brochures,is in fact in mawbray near silloth,a nice little scattering of houses, were in the middle there is a little pub,it used to be the local ran by mrs pigg who passed away a few years ago,it was then sold to the new people,a young lady her mother and afew friends, this i think is were the problems start, they have an outside toilet[very last century or 2,] they also have 2 old static caravans in the yard, they call this a caravan park.....please have alook at this place if you are passing it is an insult to proper holliday makers, and please looke at the prices,i would genuinly want to own the caravans for that price of rent,ie see ebay...they have aplayground or do they...i think you will find this across the road from the pub in the green opposite...now the food, the menu is on paper great in reality long in coming, boring, cookery book style, the pub offers an ammatuer, [i want to own a pub in the country style ] way of talking to people were they really dont want you to stay 2 mins after your bill, not because they are busy, but because they are so small and inexsperienced, the decor is blackpool guesthouse style with lamps and carboot added, which wouldnt be offensive if the food was as good as a blackpool guesthouse, the prices, well to be fair the drinks ie ales etc were ok, the food for what you got was a liberty, as far as this wasnt stylish, elegant, nor chic, just a couple of people who in my mind should go back to there day jobs, put some exsperience under there belts then try it,and how do i know..well...iv stayed there ...eat there....and so have lots of friends...but dont take my word for it....try yourself...but beware not to complain.....thats when it goes all in the favour of the lowther arms
