i regularly dine at the hydro cafe tea rooms, and it must be noted that from the 1st of august the hydro has become under new management, and things are steadily beginning to improve. planned large scale refurbishments are planned for october/november, which i am sure will largely improve the feel of the newly branded: The Hydro tea rooms: cafe and restaurant.
the menu is undergoing refinement with food quality becoming competitive for the area, again improving the tea rooms. whilst the service may not be the best, i believe training of the staff will become far more stringent, and therefore giving us, the customers, more satisfaction.
while it is understandable that the tea rooms has its faults, i am sure that in the coming months big differences will be seen, so please, come and visit and leave reviews!

We visited on a saturday lunch time. We were ignored for at least 15 minutes. The waitress barked that it was not possible to have garden peas instead of mushy peas, and tried to leave the table more than once before we completed our order. When our food arrived it was practically thrown at us. The food was average to say the least. The chilli was watery and the pannini tasteless.
The decor is leans more to tired and jaded than nostalgic.
i'm sure there are some far better quality places to visit in Buxton than the Hydro tea rooms
